Soon after the discharge and fame of Outlast, Red Barrels reported the continuation. An ongoing interaction demo was then discharged at both PAX East and E3 2016 on April 22 and June 15 individually, with a discharge initially scheduled for Autumn 2016. Because of advancement delays, the game was eventually discharged on April 25, 2017 for Microsoft Windows, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One. The Nintendo Switch rendition discharged on March 27, 2018 on the Nintendo eShop.
